🎬 NEWS SO BLACK – Series Synopsis
Genre: Mockumentary / Satirical Comedy
Tone: Petty-smart, urban, unapologetically funny
Tagline: “Reporting live from the culture… and the chaos.”
Synopsis:
News So Black is the world’s most unfiltered news show — a chaotic blend of satire, shade, and soul, where professionalism goes to die and the truth gets served with a side of ribs. Every episode follows a hilariously dysfunctional crew of Black correspondents trying (and failing) to deliver the day’s headlines without letting their real thoughts slip out on air.
Led by the smooth-talking T.Y. Jenkins, a news anchor with more attitude than objectivity, the team includes Wanda Storm, a weather diva who reports humidity like it’s personal drama; Shay Shay Reed, the gossip queen who turns celebrity rumors into sermons; Carlton Truth, a “sensible” analyst who somehow always sounds like a disappointed uncle; Big Earl, the BBQ-loving field reporter who keeps showing up to food festivals instead of real news; and D-Bo Jones, a die-hard Cowboys fan who treats every segment like SportsCenter with trauma.
Together, they tackle everything from hood politics and wild weather to celebrity chaos and sports heartbreak — all through the hilarious lens of Black life, culture, and pure foolishness. Whether it’s a “Hood Report” warning folks where not to go this weekend, or a “Breaking Mess” segment roasting the latest viral scandal, the News So Black squad finds the humor in everything that makes the culture move.
Each episode ends with T.Y.’s heartfelt (and half-drunken) monologue — part wisdom, part roast — reminding viewers that the truth might hurt, but it sure can make you laugh.
In short: “News So Black” isn’t about who’s right — it’s about who’s loud, wrong, and hilarious about it first.
